1st International Conference on
Sociotechnical Privacy and Security
(SPS2026)
September 2–3, 2026 · Belval, Luxembourg
About SPS2026
Successful attacks on information systems often exploit not only IT systems and networks but also the human element in the system. Therefore, it is critical to limit technical vulnerabilities as well as insecure user behavior, poorly designed user interfaces, and unclear or unrealistic security policies. To improve the security of systems, technology designers and policymakers must consider user needs and characteristics.
SPS2026 is a new conference that emerged by combining two successful events in socio-technical, user-centric privacy and security: EuroUSEC (European Symposium on Usable Security) and STAST (International Workshop on Socio-Technical Aspects in Security). It aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from diverse backgrounds — including computer science, engineering, psychology, the social sciences, and economics — to provide a forum for research and to discuss issues related to human-computer interaction, security, and privacy.
